Dr. Joanna Tse and her husband, Dr.
Albert Chan, were members of our church. Dr Tse's mother also frequently attends
our Sunday service and has maintained a close relationship with our church.
Dr. Tse was baptized on September 2000,
in The Praise Assembly and became a church member. My wife and I became their
pastors. We walked with them, experiencing the love and mercy of God together.
Because Dr. Chan's cancer re-emerged in
2001, I remained in close contact with Dr. Tse, who cared for her husband
throughout his illness. She was gentle and quiet, but deep inside her, she was
very strong. Whether in dealing with her husband's illness or caring for other
brothers and sisters in Christ, she showed herself to be self-sacrificing.
During Dr. Chan's illness, she not only
cared for her husband, but continued working as a doctor and taking
responsibility. She did not stop working and this showed her "Doctor's Heart".
In coming to terms with her husband' s death, she never once complained against
God nor doubted God, but submitted to His plan and leading. She committed her
life to God, believing that resurrection and life was in Him.
Dr. Tse treated everyone around her
with loving care and attention. I remember the time when she was working in the
Princess Margaret Hospital Emergency Room and my mother was laying sick in a
ward there. As I was leaving the hospital after visiting her, I ran into Dr. Tse,
who had just finished night shift. Nevertheless, she showed care and
understanding for my mother's condition. She also gave me professional advice
and made the necessary arrangements immediately, helping us wholeheartedly. I
was very touched.
Despite her busy work schedule, she was
always sensitive towards friends' needs and never hesitated to help them. She
lived her life according to the Word of God. Honoring God, Benefiting Mankind.
As Dr. Tse's father said, "She was a shining example to others."
We are deeply proud of a sister who
sacrificed herself to save others. We are sad that we have lost a good doctor in
the community as well as in the medical field. It is like losing a loved one.
Her parents, of course, are extremely sad and our church is wholeheartedly
helping and caring for her family members. We believe that Dr. Tse's death will
make people value their lives.
During Dr. Tse's illness, the church
continually prayed for her and also sent out emails to brothers and sisters
overseas for prayer support. We received responses from Brazil, the United
Kingdom, South America, North America, East Asia, and the Korea Prayer Mountain.
Dr. Tse's family and her church - The
Praise Assembly - designed this website in her memory, to share her story with
people. We encourage Hong Kong people not to give up but to know that her faith
in Jesus can be theirs too. Finally, may every friend in the media be blessed
with strength in life, suitable rest and good health.
